HOLIDAYS AND STATUTORY HOLIDAYS IN TURKEY

This will be a short entry but very useful. It is worth saving and sharing with people who are going on holiday to Turkey.

Before leaving, check when the holidays and statutory holidays are during your holiday in sunny Turkey. During the holidays, many institutions, shops and tourist attractions are closed or open for shorter periods.

There are only two movable holidays (RAMADAN AND THE FEAST OF SACRIFICE), which change their dates every year, the rest of the holidays remain unchanged.

  • JANUARY 1 - NEW YEAR (Yılbaşı)
  • END OF RAMADAN / RAMAZAN (Ramazan Bayramı, Şeker Bayramı)


This is a movable holiday and always falls in the 9th month of the Muslim (lunar) calendar. Three days of the holidays are days off from work!

- IN 2023: from April 21 to April 23

- IN 2024: from April 10 to April 12

- IN 2025: from March 30 to April 1

- IN 2026: from March 20 to March 22

  • APRIL 23 – INDEPENDENCE DAY AND CHILDREN'S DAY (Ulusal Egemenlik ve Çocuk Bayramı)
  • MAY 1 – LABOR DAY (Emek ve Dayanışma Günü)
  • MAY 19 – COMMEMORATION OF ATATÜRK, YOUTH AND SPORTS DAY (Atatürk’ü Anma, Gençlik ve Spor Bayramı)
  • SACRIFICE DAY (Kurban Bayramı)


It is the most important holiday in the Muslim calendar. Due to the fact that it is a movable holiday, it will also change its date according to the lunar calendar. As many as 4 days of holidays!

- IN 2023: from June 28 to July 1

- IN 2024: from June 16 to June 19

- IN 2025: from June 6 to June 9

- IN 2026: from May 27 to May 30

  • JULY 15 - DEMOCRACY AND NATIONAL UNITY DAY (Milli Birlik ve Demokrasi Günü)
  • AUGUST 30 - VICTORY DAY (Zafer Bayramı)
  • OCTOBER 29 - REPUBLIC DAY (Cumhuriyet Bayramı)
